Samburu Game Reserve, in Northern Kenya along the Ewaso Ngiro River, is famed for its unique "Special Five" species: Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk, Somali Ostrich, and Grevy Zebra. The reserve is also one of the few places in Kenya to spot leopards, with wild dogs frequently seen. Birdlife is abundant, boasting over 450 recorded species.

Samburu Special Five drive
Depart by road, crossing the equator from the Southern to the Northern Hemisphere, en route to the semi-arid Samburu Game Reserve. Arrive at your lodge/camp for lunch, relax, and then enjoy an afternoon game drive before returning for sunset.

Spend a full day in Samburu Game Reserve on morning and afternoon drives in search of the rare “Samburu Five” – the gerenuk, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa Oryx, and Somali ostrich – while enjoying the unspoiled scenery. Optional activities(additional cost) include a camel-back safari and a cultural visit to the Samburu community.

For your final day in Samburu National Reserve, an early morning game viewing drive is planned for you, or instead, you might decide you would like to sleep in. Breakfast will be served at the camp or lodge, after which you will depart by road to Nairobi. Drop off in Nairobi will be at your residence or at the airport for your flight.
